The Future of SharePoint

May 2023 CollabTalk TweetJamAfter more than 20 years, SharePoint continues to be the leader in enterprise collaboration, enabling innovative functionalities across Microsoft 365. Earlier this month, Microsoft announced new SharePoint innovations aimed at simplifying the creation of engaging sites and pages, focusing on four main themes: simpler authoring via AI and natural language with the introduction of Copilot; a major aesthetic overhaul for creating compelling content; deeper engagement through new integrations with email, Teams, and Microsoft Viva; and a more flexible platform thanks to continuous investment in the SharePoint Framework, Microsoft Graph, and templates. The goal of these latest capabilities is to empower users to create diverse, captivating, and sophisticated SharePoint sites and pages while preserving their existing solutions.

In the next #CollabTalk TweetJam taking place on Wednesday, May 24th at 9am Pacific, the community will once again join forces and have a focused discussion on the topic of “The Future of SharePoint” to share our thoughts and experiences on SharePoint, as well as SharePoint Copilot, OneDrive, Microsoft Viva, Microsoft Graph, and the other components of these recent announcements.

In this 1-hour Twitter-based panel discussion, we’ll bring together MVPs and Regional Directors, community experts, partners, consultants, and practitioners to share their perspectives on this important topic.

Anyone can join this community discussion using Twitter and the #CollabTalk hashtag or your favorite Twitter platform. You don’t even need to be an “expert” to participate in the online conversation. Anyone can ask questions, comment on the questions posed, or just “lurk” in the background. These online discussions are open to anyone — you do not have to be on the panel to participate.

This month’s tweetjam is being sponsored by TekkiGurus and, as always, our friends at tyGraph. Thanks for your support!

If you have never participated in one of these tweetjams, it’s pretty simple: anyone can jump in and share their thoughts, or just lurk in the wings and absorb the wisdom of the crowd. Either way, it’ll be a TON of content to consume in a single hour. You can follow the live session using the Twitter UI of your choice (Twitter.com, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, whatever). How it works is that I’ll post a series of questions every few minutes, and people will respond to Q1, Q2, Q3 and so forth with A1, A2, A3, always including the #CollabTalk hashtag with their answers. Feel free to reply as often (or as little) as you’d like, ask your own follow-up questions, share relevant links, re-tweet others, and engage with the audience.

The questions we will discuss during the session include:

  1. Will the integration of Copilot in SharePoint change the way users create and edit SharePoint sites and pages? If so, how?
  2. How are you ensuring responsible use of AI in the new updates and features being introduced across Microsoft 365, specifically in SharePoint and OneDrive?
  3. What will be the impact of the new Brand Center on new site and content creation, as well as existing SharePoint assets?
  4. How important is video within your organization, and will the updated Microsoft Stream enhance the visibility and usability of video content in SharePoint?
  5. What mechanisms are being put in place to address the issue of content oversharing in SharePoint and OneDrive, and how will this change the user experience?
  6. How are the SharePoint Framework and Microsoft Graph being leveraged within your organization?
  7. Overall, what are your thoughts on the latest SharePoint announcements, and how will the new changes in SharePoint affect existing sites and content?

Of course, there will be many side questions, side conversations, and wise-cracking shenanigans. This is open to the public, so please join in the discussion! The dialog is always thought-provoking and fun.
