Going Live

After 7 months of design, development, testing and re-testing, we’re finally taking our new system live. Its essentially the operating system of our company – and a pretty big deal. Just wanted to make a general comment recognizing the difference of this project to others in my 15+ years in information technology: I don’t know how we did it in the past without the configuration management and instant messaging tools we have today. I’ve had 9 hours of sleep in the past 3 days, but things are working and the atmosphere is buzzing. We have people staged across 2 buildings, and working from home — all connected and working in unison. If you stop to think about it, it’s pretty amazing.
