Channel MEC is Launched

I went ahead and kicked off the ChannelMEC blog this evening, and hope to add a dozen or so other content contributors by the end of the month. The purpose of the blog is to expand the conversation around the management experience here at Microsoft. I wanted to do something external so that managers who have not yet attended the Management Excellence Foundation Event (MEFE), and therefore are not yet members of the Management Excellence Community (MEC) could still participate. It’s also open to individual contributors — I think their comments are vital to the conversation, and welcome the feedback.

Why WordPress, and not MSDN (or my preferred platform, Typepad) ? Well, I wanted something with all of the web 2.0 features, and….well….it was free. MEC is a grass-roots effort led by the Management Development Group (MDG) and a large group of dedicated Microsoft managers who volunteer their time (i.e. no budget for it). Plus, when we eventually move the site to a more robust solution (maybe hosted on winISP, with a small budget for development help), it’s completely exportable via XML.

So if you’re interested in talking about management at Microsoft, please visit the new blog.
