Goodreads.com

"Christian, you should really check out this social network for avid readers. It’s called GoodReads.com"

"I would never use it."

"I think you’d find it really useful and fun."

"I’ll sign up for it and take a look, but don’t envision myself ever using it."

202 book ratings and 20 reviews later, I am definitely finding Goodreads.com more useful and interesting than I had anticipated. (Thanks Ashlee) I just completed the book Crucial Confrontations by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler (Amazon), and left a short review recommending the book to all people managers.

I suspect most people approach this series because they already have a difficult personal or professional relationship they need help in managing. Crucial Conversations is more for preventative maintenance, while Crucial Confrontations seeks to repair damaged relationships – or to help people extricate themselves from difficult situations.

Since reading Conversation and talking to people about it, I’ve learned that a couple people I know have been through Crucial Conversations training, and one even had become a certified trainer. I’m actually very interested in doing the same.
