Sonny & SharePoint at SPTechCon Boston

We were given a 6 minute time slot at a SPTechCon Boston 2010 last week, and told we could pitch our software and company. Here’s the thing – with only 6 minutes, do you talk administration and migration, or give a brief company history? The question for me was not “How much content can I squeeze into the session?” but “What can I do to drive people to our booth?” I made a couple suggestions to the management team, we got a green light, and a deck was prepared.

The presentation that Gail Shlansky and I gave was entitled “Sonny & SharePoint: Technology Intimations of a Music Legend.” Our intent was to show the eerily parallel paths of the career of Cher against the rapid rise of SharePoint. We tracked them both (loosely) over time, and measured growth by media attention and business value, respectively. We closed out with a graphic of our popular CherPoint t-shirt (which you can get if you come talk to us at the next event) and which Gail and I were both wearing.

We had a good response from the audience, and the traffic at the booth was excellent. Of course, we plan to turn it up a notch at Connections in Las Vegas next week…
