Invert the Organizational Pyramid

I’m usually good about references in articles and blog posts, but I came across a photo of a sidebar from a Harvard Business Review article — without my usual notes about who wrote it, and where to find it online. (I’m writing this while sitting on a train from Berlin to Prague, without wi-fi access, but I’ll try to track down a link later.) Long story short, this is excellent guidance for leaders on how one company sought to change the status quo, improve trust between front line workers and management, and to get everyone thinking differently about their roles and the value they bring to the company. Instead of re-typing the material, here’s a snapshot of the clipping:

I think the point here is that once in a while you need to stir the pot as a way of inspiring people to think more creatively about the problems they face as a business. Great advice for anyone experiencing corporate gridlock, and looking for a way to shake things up.
