On the Road in April

I thought I’d do a quick post to let people know my travel plans for the month of April. I am currently on the road in Southern California, co-hosting this weekend’s (4/2) SharePoint Saturday Los Angeles event (#SPSLA) with SharePoint compatriot Nedra Allmond, and a great team of experts, including Axceler administration expert Jamie Aliperti, who will also be presenting tomorrow.

My session at SPSLA will be Looking Under the Hood: How Your Metadata Strategy Impacts Everything You Do, which is a 100-level overview of metadata and taxonomy for those new to SharePoint. I will also be leading a panel with Wahid Saleemi on How to Build a SharePoint Community with a few of the other speakers. Jamie is making his debut SPS appearance, presenting on Reporting for SharePoint Administrators. Should be a great event, and we’ll be kicking things off tonight with the speaker dinner.

DevConnections 026Next up on the tour this month is a trip out to Axceler headquarters (and a brand new, expanded office on the top floor) where I will spend a couple days with the Woburn, MA team, trying to repair the emotional damage from a big April Fool’s joke I just did. At the end of the week, I’ll participate in SharePoint Saturday Boston (4/9), once again presenting How Your Metadata Strategy Impacts Everything You Do, and then (unfortunately) skipping the post-event SharePint to catch a flight to London.

I’ll arrive in the UK early on the 10th, participating in the European Best Practices Conference as an exhibitor, doing a lot of networking, and meeting with partners and customers. I also plan to spend a full day in the Axceler London office before heading back to the colonies.

After a brief day and half home in Seattle, I am on the DevConnections 036road again, heading south to Las Vegas for The Experts Conference, where I’ll be presenting (once again) How Your Metadata Strategy Impacts Everything You Do (are you seeing a theme here?) and SharePoint’s Social Media Scorecard. Looking forward to working with Joel Oleson on his last event before leaving Quest Software, heading over to run a SharePoint solution architecture team for the LDS Church in Salt Lake City.

x2_540a8f2After Las Vegas, I am home for a couple days before heading back east again to Boston, this time for the DevConnections Coast-to-Coast event (4/25-27), where I’ll be presenting SharePoint’s Social Computing Scorecard, Enabling Social Media through Metadata, and a new presentation entitled SharePoint Migration: A Phased, Iterative, and Error-Prone Process. From Boston, I make my way to St. Louis (my first time there) for yet another SPS event, SharePoint Saturday St. Louis on 4/30. Not sure yet what I might be speaking on, but I’ll be there nonetheless.

May is not as hectic, with only 2 trips away from home planned (to date), and some much-needed quality (and quantity) time with the family. Looking forward to that.
