Webinars, Panels, and Events, Oh My!

Many of us look forward to the end of year holidays as a time to slow down a bit, and start the planning cycle for the new year. Of course, this hasn’t been the case for me for the last 5 years. Traveling, speaking, product releases and content have packed my calendar since joining little echoTechnology back in 2009 where we released a product called Outlook PowerTool Plus just a few weeks after I joined the team, and I spent a good portion of the end of my year prepping for a hectic January travel schedule and promotional effort. Don’t get me wrong – I’m a guy who prefers to have a full inbox. And for the next couple weeks (well, months) I most definitely have a full inbox.

Aside from the delivery of some chapters for the current book project end of this week, I am participating in a webinar tomorrow and a panel event on Friday, both for ITUnity and focused on the topic of Delve. And then next week I am right back out on the road for SharePointFest Chicago — my last formal gig of the year!. Later in the month, I’ll be hosting another installment of the #CollabTalk tweetjam, but most likely from the comfort of my home office whilst wearing pajamas and sipping hot coco. The topic and panel have not yet been announced, but its on the way. But I wanted to share the details of the events this week and next:

Delve in the Real World: Making the Future of the Social Enterprise a Reality

Abstract: The world is witnessing the dawn of the social organization, with rapidly evolving solutions that impact team dynamics, collaboration, and real-time communication. For many managers, it can be difficult to keep up with all of the features and roadmaps. New options within SharePoint, Office 365 and Yammer are exciting, but many teams struggle to develop a social strategy that aligns with their business needs. This webinar will showcase the latest Delve capabilities, but more importantly, walk through real-world scenarios of how an organization might move from crawl to walk to run with Microsoft’s vision for enterprise social. Attendees receive guidance on making informed choices as they develop and mature their social strategy. This is Part 4 of ITUnity’s “Delve Days of December” series.

Ask the Experts: Delve and Office Graph
Register at http://bit.ly/1rYE2Jm

Abstract: Join some of the most trusted experts in the world for a deep conversation about Delve and Office Graph, and—most importantly—a chance to get your questions answered! This will be the debut of IT Unity's Ask The Experts panel series. The experts will all be online, live, on webcam, and you'll be able to chat with them and with other IT pros, developers, and business users about these exciting new technologies. Joining the panel will be Cem Aykan (Sr. Product Manager, Office Graph & Delve, Microsoft), Agnes Molnar, Christian Buckley, Dan Holme, Wictor Wilén, Albert-Jan Schot, Waldek Mastykarz, Mikail Svenson, Joel Oleson, and more!

December 8th through 10th
SharePointFest Chicago

I have two sessions at this event:

1:30pm Tuesday — Managing SharePoint On Prem vs Online: Compare and Contrast
Abstract: The purpose of this session is to outline the major administrative differences between SharePoint on prem and SharePoint Online, comparing reporting, auditing, and information governance differences between the platforms. The intent is to help organizations make informed decisions about what it will take to transition to SharePoint in the cloud, either through a hybrid model or moving entirely to the cloud. In addition to showing administrative capabilities of both platforms, the session will walk through some management considerations for hybrid planning.

11:10am on Wednesday — Baby-Stepping Into the Cloud with Hybrid Workloads
Abstract: As organizations begin to think about their roadmap toward the cloud, they need to consider how best to move away from their on premises infrastructure investments. There are multiple paths into the cloud, depending on the goals and needs of the business. This session walks through some of the various hybrid options – what they are, what they take to implement, and the risks, feature gaps, and overhead for deploying them.

And, of course, throughout the month I will be posting a number of articles and blogs on various SharePoint, Office 365, social, and leadership development topics as always. And be watching the interwebs for news on the next #CollabTalk tweetjam toward the end of the month. I have big plans for #CollabTalk beginning in January which I hope to be able to announce alongside this month’s panel and topic, so stay tuned!
