September 2016 Content Wrap-Up

No matter how much you prepare for something as big at Ignite, it still takes a lot out of you. Having organized, presented, and participated in events all over the world, you would think that my system would get used to the toils they can take – and yet at the end of every event, my mind is still going yet my body knows its’ work is done. On the final day of Microsoft’s Ignite Conference in Atlanta, I was exhausted – my body seems to know when my event responsibilities have concluded, and then shuts down. A very full week, with announcements, sessions, booth topics and panels, MVP interviews and videos, press releases, and blog posts. To say it was a big week would be a gross understatement!

Beezy leadership team at Ignite 2016In the coming weeks, I’ll expand on some of the content that was shared from the Beezy booth last week, and provide links and interviews with some of the MVPs and community experts who participated. To all of you – thank you once again for participating! Videos and content are forthcoming….once I get out from under this backlog of emails and tasks that built up during the show.

And for those of you who weren’t paying attention, Beezy had a couple major announcements this month. We kicked off the month by announcing a new case study by Microsoft on the work the Beezy team has been doing with the Microsoft Graph, which you can find in the list below. And then during the show, we formally announced the availability of the BeezyPocket messaging app in the Apple Store, and the launch of a revamped website. I was telling someone about how this past month was the slowest content from me for the past 5+ years, but the reality is that most of my content was behind the scenes – including working on our beautiful new website. You definitely need to check it out.

Presenting at Ignite 2016Throughout Ignite, I tried to maintain a steady stream of social posts, and also created a daily summary of what was happening in the booth each day and anything else relevant to the Beezy team. On the last day of the event, I hosted my monthly #CollabTalk tweetjam from the Ignite speaker room, and had people participating from the show (some were sitting in sessions while participating) as well as many who were watching the show and following the news from elsewhere in the world. Oh yeah, and I was also recognized for a 4th time as one of the Top 25 SharePoint influencers in the world. This list is tracked by Harmon.ie and Scratch Media, with voting by the community. In 2014 I was ranked at #4, in 2015 I came in at #6, and this year I was listed as #9. As I told a couple co-workers, "Great — you can bet this slide is going to show up on my annual performance review." :-) 

Moving from the US to the EU: For those who may not know, the largest SharePoint and Office 365 event in Europe is happening in Vienna in November – and Panel discussion at Ignite 2016Beezy is a finalist for two awards. The European SharePoint Conference taking place Nov 14-17 is a great event, and this will be my 3rd time keynoting. In Barcelona a couple years back, I shared the stage with Microsoft’s Mark Kashman (@mkashman), and then in Copenhagen I shared the stage with Dan Holme (@danholme),who is also now with Microsoft. This year it will be Sharegate’s Benjamin Niaulin (@bniaulin) and I taking the stage for the Wednesday morning keynote where we’ll be talking productivity.

While I did manage to squeeze in a couple additional articles, rewrite a whitepaper, and participate in a video interview with Jeff Fried from BA Insight, as I stated above, it was the slowest external content month for quite a few years. Look for that to change in October.

While I’ll be working on my keynote with Ben, and another session with Jussi Mori, I’ll also be cleaning up the videos recorded at the Beezy booth last week at Ignite and working with the many presenters and panelists to produce some great content for IT Unity, CMSWire, Redmond Magazine, and SharePoint-Community.net among other sites. Lots coming your way.

As far as events, I’m hosting a couple webinars this month, will be presenting with Melinda Morales (@trulymelinda) as part of the Collab365 online event, and then will head north-west to speak at and co-host another SharePoint Saturday Redmond event (register for this FREE event) on October 29th. From there, I’ll be camping out at my sister’s house until the MVP Summit in early November – so if you’re based in the Seattle area, ping me. We’ll do lunch.
