#MVPbuzzChat with Eric Overfield
For Episode 3 of the #MVPbuzzChat series, I interviewed my good friend and fellow SharePoint Saturday community organizer Eric Overfield (@ericoverfield), Founder & CEO of PixelMill in Davis, California (just west of Sacramento). Eric is an Officer Servers & Services MVP, as well as a Microsoft Regional Director (don’t know what this is? check it out). If you’re in the SharePoint space, you probably already know Eric — especially in the western US where Eric has been very involved in almost every aspect of the SharePoint community, and most of the regional SharePoint Saturday events. In fact, when I helped launch SPS events in the San Francisco Bay Area (started off in San Ramon in 2010, moved across the water to Silicon Valley the following year), Los Angeles, Sacramento, Bend (Oregon), and Utah, Eric was one of the main people to step up and help keep each of them running, taking on leadership of the Sacramento and Silicon Valley events.
In our video, however, Eric wanted to depart from the SharePoint and Office 365 topics and instead discuss the rapid growth of blockchain and crypto-currency technologies. As I mention in the video, it’s a topic I have been dipping my toes into over the last couple years, given my background in operations/manufacturing collaboration, and the obvious benefits of blockchain to improve upon the unique needs of this space — and Eric shares his excitement about similar infrastructural benefits to blockchain. It was a great discussion, and we attempt to bring it back to the SharePoint / Office 365 space (sort of).
If you’d like to get in touch with Eric, you can reach him via Twitter and LinkedIn, and through the PixelMill website and blog.
