#MVPbuzzChat with Onur Okutucu
For Episode 20 of the #MVPbuzzChat interview series, I was able to connect with Windows and Devices for IT MVP B. Onur Okutucu (@bakionur), a DevOps engineer and consultant based out of London, UK. You can find Onur writing in a number of places on Azure, Powershell, and other DevOps topics.
In this video, Onur and I talk about changes that have happened within the DevOps space, with an increased focus on automation and optimization. While we have very different technical backgrounds, we both agreed that many of the roles within traditional IT will include some kind of automation — with many of the opportunities that exist for IT Pros happening within this space. Looking back at the SharePoint ecosystem, I’ve had several friends and acquaintances “drop out” of the community to focus more on these DevOps topics. But with Microsoft’s efforts to embrace and support open source and focus not only on their own products and services, but the end-to-end customer scenario — especially with Microsoft’s increased activities around AI, ML, cognitive services, IoT, and other technologies — we’re seeing more and more IT Pros come back into the Microsoft ecosystem.
Not that they ever left completely, but my observation is that they’re getting involved in community again because they’re excited about Microsoft’s innovations in this space. And if you want to get up to speed on what Microsoft is doing, be sure to check out the latest announcements coming from Microsoft Build this week.
If you’d like to connect with Onur, you can find him through LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, his personal blog, his Powershell-specific blog, YouTube, as a regular contributor on 4sysops, and through his company website at clouderz.co.uk
