December 2018 Content Wrap-Up

December 2018 Ivey League eventComing out of a very busy travel schedule in November, it was great to take it easy and stay home for the month of December. This was the first Christmas in the new house, and I spent some of my free time in the ongoing process of sorting through boxes (due to a quick home sale and move) in the office and garage. But it also allowed me to write some content, conduct a couple online events, participate in local user group holiday events, and put my feet up for a change. The photos are from two such events, with folks from Silicon Slopes, Kiln, and Ivey League. More travel and events coming up in Q1, but here is what I was able to create for December:

Past and Future Events

December 2018 Silicon Slopes eventI posted a few things from ESPC last month, conducted a panel vlog with additional takeaways from the event, and wrote about the upcoming SharePoint Conference coming up in May:

December 2018 CollabTalk TweetJam

December 2018 CollabTalk TweetJam statsThe end-of-year CollabTalk TweetJam continues to be one of the most popular tweetjams of the year, and 2018 was no exception. While I am no longer able to summarize each tweetjam using the now-defunct Twubs platform, I’m hoping to make time to organize a short best-of blog post after future tweetjams to share some of the best comments made by participants. Of course, it’s all still out there in the Twitterverse. Just search for #CollabTalk and a date range, and you’ll find the complete feed from every tweetjam going back to the start in January 2012.

Articles

Yes, I occasionally write blog posts, too 🙂 but I’ve been focusing more and more on video and audio recordings, building out my podcast and vlog archives. Don’t worry — I’ll be writing much more in 2019. Probably.

#MVPbuzzChat Interview Series with fellow Microsoft MVPs

Finally, I was able to conduct two more interviews with my fellow MVPs for my growing MVPbuzzChat series. If you enjoy this format and would like to get to know more of the MVP community, be sure to subscribe to the CollabTalk YouTube channel and/or the CollabTalk Podcast (which is also available through iTunes):

Nick and Josh visits via SkypeAnd finally, December and the Christmas holiday means that we were able to chat with both of our missionaries via Skype. For those who don’t know, young missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are required to write home weekly (via email), but are able to video chat with their families twice a year: Christmas and Mother’s Day. Our son Nicholas has been out for a year and a half, serving in Sweden (currently just outside of Stockholm). Our youngest son Joshua left on his mission the first week in October, and after a few weeks in the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Mexico City, he’s now serving in Córdoba Argentina. It was great to see and hear from both of them, and we’re incredibly proud of them! The next time we’ll all be together will likely be the holidays in November or December 2020.

And that’s a wrap! Thanks to all of my readers and followers, and I hope everyone had a great (and safe) New Year!
