Community Feedback on Digital Literacy

Today was another fantastic community discussion as part of the monthly #CollabTalk TweetJam, this time on the topic of “Building a Strategy for Digital Literacy.” You can read more about the event on the blog post. As always we had a stellar panel of MVPs, RDs, and community experts officially join our panel and seed the online discussion via Twitter and the #CollabTalk hashtag, with a number of community members joining in on the discussion, liking and retweeting panel comments, and, as always, lurking in the wings. Although these Twitter-based discussions fly by at a furious pace, I love these community interactions because it is a drinking-from-the-fire-hose method of checking the pulse of the community on any topic.

One of the things I am trying to do this year (our 9th year of running these events!) is to follow up each tweetjam with an interview with one or more of our panelists, where we go through each of the 7 questions covered during the live event, sharing our thoughts — and occasionally referring back to other comments made during the tweetjam. Today, I was joined by my good friend and fellow Office Apps & Services MVP Tracy Van der Schyff (@tracyvds), consultant and principal of The Guid Stuff in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a very vocal advocate of digital literacy within the Microsoft 365 community. Right after the tweetjam, Tracy and I jumped on a web meeting and captured our thoughts, which you can watch on the CollabTalk YouTube channel below:

Additionally, I posted the audio recording to the CollabTalk Podcast, which you can find on Soundcloud, as well as Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google, Stitcher, and other podcast locations.

Thank you again to our ongoing tweetjam sponsor tyGraph (@tyGraphTweets) and the amazing stats that they provide. If you are planning an event and would like to include similar stats, please contact them!

Speaking of stats, as you can see below, the final tally for today’s event was 411 tweets, with 2.08 million impressions, and almost 206k people reached in our 1-hour community discussion. These events are always a frenzy of activity, and sometimes trend nationally/globally on Twitter. We may not have achieved that distinction today, but we did start to attract spammers toward the end which is one indication that we are close to trending.

It’s great to see so many familiar faces on these tweetjams, as well as a handful of new faces. I also observed that today’s discussion was light on the use of hashtags. Of course, every response included the #CollabTalk hashtag, but that tag was muted for these stats, with #Office365, #MVPbuzzChat (my interview series with MVPs), #M365, #Azure, and #Microsoft rounding out the top 5.

The final image I’ll share shows the global reach of these tweetjams. While the 9am Pacific start time is a bit too early for APAC, we did get a couple people checking in from NZ, which is always great to see.
