Community Discussion on the State of Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams has become the “hub” for collaboration for organizations around the world, and is one of Microsoft’s fastest growing products of all time. With this rapid growth and increasingly broad adoption, Microsoft has also been innovating at an incredible pace, with new products and features seemingly every week, as well as deeper integrations with other key workloads (SharePoint, Yammer, Exchange, OneDrive) and extensibility options (Power Platform, new Apps, partner solutions).

June 2020 #CollabTalk TweetJam on The State of Microsoft TeamsFor this month’s community discussion, we will look back over the past 3 years of Microsoft Teams, discuss the current state of the platform (what we love about it, and where it can improve), and share our collective feedback on where the platform should go in the future. One other area where Microsoft has greatly improved over the last few years is in listening to the voice of the customer — through UserVoice, the Microsoft TechCommunity, through social channels, and through community-led discussions like this one, so come share your feedback and participate in what will undoubtedly be a lively discussion!

Join us for this #CollabTalk TweetJam on Tuesday, June 30th at 9am Pacific / 12pm Eastern as we convene to discuss “The State of Microsoft Teams.”  Participate in the discussion with other members of the community as we share feedback, ideas, and make predictions about what was presented at these two major events.

You can join the community discussion using Twitter and the #CollabTalk hashtag or your favorite Twitter platform. You do not need to be an “expert” to participate in the online conversation, and can ask questions, comment on the questions posed, or just “lurk” in the background. These online discussions are open to anyone — you do not have to be on the panel to participate.

Commsverse Online - The Online Microsoft Teams Conference

This month’s tweetjam is being sponsored by Commsverse, the free Online Microsoft Teams Conference happening July 6-9, with stats once again provided by our friends at tyGraph.

If you have never participated in one of these tweetjams, it’s pretty simple: anyone can jump in and share their thoughts, or just lurk in the wings and absorb the wisdom of the crowd. Either way, it’ll be a TON of content to consume in a single hour. You can follow the live session using the Twitter UI of your choice (Twitter.com, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, whatever). How it works is that I’ll post a series of questions every few minutes, and people will respond to Q1, Q2, Q3 and so forth with A1, A2, A3, always including the #CollabTalk hashtag with their answers. Feel free to reply as often (or as little) as you’d like, ask your own follow up questions, share relevant links, re-tweet others, and engage with the audience.

The questions we will discuss during the session include:

  1. Has Microsoft Teams become the hub for collaboration within your organization? If so, how?
  2. Has the rapid rise of Microsoft Teams altered how you / your customers think about collaboration & communication?
  3. What is the state of administration, compliance, and governance within Microsoft Teams?
  4. Are there “best practices” for aligning Microsoft Teams with SharePoint and other workloads?
  5. In your opinion, what are the hits and misses in Microsoft’s overall collaboration strategy?
  6. Where are you / your customers making investments in Microsoft Teams (automation, adoption, etc) and why?
  7. If you could ask for anything, what would be your top 3 feature requests for Microsoft Teams?

As always, there will be side-questions, side-conversations, and wise-cracking throughout. This is open to the public, so please join in the discussion! The dialog is always thought-provoking and fun.
