Community Content Feeding Frenzy
Ah, I love the smell of fresh content in the morning…
After a long drought in the field of community content, I’m stepping up and getting back to a normal writing rhythm. I’m going to attempt to post to this blog daily for the next 90 days as well as create content for the AvePoint blog and elsewhere. I’ve long been dormant, and have an extensive backlog of productivity tips, thought leadership posts, and community questions that I plan to get back on top of here on this site. I’ve always admired the work of people like good friend and fellow MVP Tracy van der Schyff (@tracyvds) who have committed themselves to writing a blog post per day (Tracy did it for en entire year!). I have successfully done it for more than 90 days a couple of times, but, as you can imagine, it takes effort. Serious effort. Honestly, it can be a very therapeutic activity to write that much. In some ways, it’s like being on a diet, with daily reminders and having a plan. And like dieting, it’s not about sustaining that pace of content, but in helping you get to your “desired body weight” of content and then finding the right cadence to maintain your weight.
As I said, I’ve attempted this a couple times, but 90 days is a long time to maintain that pace. My previous roles included too much travel. And while things are starting to normalize (slowly, but it’s happening) and before my travel plans become too hectic, I thought I’d take this writing challenge. However, I’m going to modify this goal slightly, creating a piece of content per day in some format — blog post, video, or podcast — for the next 3 months, ending when I take a much-needed vacation to Maui in mid-December. While I hope to have a daily entry on this site, I’m leaving room for my daily entry to happen on another site. Of course, you’ll see them all on the 1st of each month when I write up my official Monthly Summary.
What will I write about? I’m trying to organize myself around the following asset types:
- #MVPbuzzChat interviews every Monday
- at least 1 (maybe 2) productivity tips each week
- #O365hours, #M365AMA, and #CollabTalk TweetJam summary content
- Weekly thought-leadership posts on current technology trends and topics
- CollabTalk Podcast long-form discussions, probably with a recurring panel of MVP friends
In addition to my buckleyPLANET and CollabTalk content efforts, I’m also planning on a regular content cadence on the AvePoint blog, and will get back into the rhythm of submitting articles to outside sources, such as CMSWire (hey Siobhan!), Redmond Magazine, and elsewhere.
Lots more to come. Looking forward to it!
