Automating Information Governance

March 2023 #CollabTalk TweetJam on The Need for Governance AutomationIn the modern business environment, the volume, velocity, and variety of data generated by organizations require a robust information governance strategy to ensure compliance with regulations, mitigate risks, and drive value from data assets. However, implementing effective information governance is not without challenges.

Microsoft provides various solutions to help organizations improve their information governance practices and information protection, including data classification, retention, disposal, and access controls. While Microsoft’s information governance solutions are comprehensive, some features or capabilities may be missing, depending on the specific needs of the organization. Automation can help organizations streamline and enhance various aspects of their information governance, but challenges may remain.

In the next #CollabTalk TweetJam taking place on Wednesday, March 22nd at 9am Pacific, the community will once again join forces and have a focused discussion on the topic of “The Need for Governance Automation” and share our thoughts and experiences on the opportunities and challenges surrounding information governance and the push to automate.

In this 1-hour Twitter-based panel discussion, we’ll bring together MVPs and Regional Directors, community experts, partners, consultants, and practitioners to share their perspectives on this important topic.

Anyone can join this community discussion using Twitter and the #CollabTalk hashtag or your favorite Twitter platform. You don’t even need to be an “expert” to participate in the online conversation. Anyone can ask questions, comment on the questions posed, or just “lurk” in the background. These online discussions are open to anyone — you do not have to be on the panel to participate.

This month’s tweetjam is being sponsored by Rencore and, as always, our friends at tyGraph. Thanks for your support!

If you have never participated in one of these tweetjams, it’s pretty simple: anyone can jump in and share their thoughts, or just lurk in the wings and absorb the wisdom of the crowd. Either way, it’ll be a TON of content to consume in a single hour. You can follow the live session using the Twitter UI of your choice (Twitter.com, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, whatever). How it works is that I’ll post a series of questions every few minutes, and people will respond to Q1, Q2, Q3 and so forth with A1, A2, A3, always including the #CollabTalk hashtag with their answers. Feel free to reply as often (or as little) as you’d like, ask your own follow-up questions, share relevant links, re-tweet others, and engage with the audience.

The questions we will discuss during the session include:

  1. What are the top 3 challenges that organizations encounter when implementing information governance, in general?
  2. Within your own organization (or customer), where are the greatest opportunities for information governance automation?
  3. How can automation help organizations improve compliance with regulations and policies related to data management and protection?
  4. How can organizations ensure that automated information governance processes align with their overall business goals and objectives?
  5. What is Microsoft doing to help customers improve their information governance practices?
  6. What features or capabilities do you believe are missing from Microsoft’s information governance solutions?
  7. For organizations at the start of their information governance planning, what guidance or recommendations would you provide?

Of course, there will be many side questions, side conversations, and wise-cracking shenanigans. This is open to the public, so please join in the discussion! The dialog is always thought-provoking and fun.
