Joining Team Rencore

Joining RencoreAs mentioned in yesterday’s monthly content wrap-up, and through social promotions, I have joined the Rencore team as their Director of Partner Management for North America (read the press release). I thought I’d provide a quick post to outline my role and focus, and for partners, how to connect with me.

As some of you know, I have been friends with the Rencore team pretty much since their inception. In fact, they were previously a customer, and co-funded some of my research projects in partnership with Microsoft, the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, and other partners. When I saw Mike Borell and Matthias Einig in Copenhagen at ESPC late last year, Matt commented about how great it would be to work with each other again. A little over a week and an employment shift later we began talking about an opportunity to help Rencore expand its channel activities within the US and Canada.

Per the company’s LinkedIn profile, “Rencore is the leading provider of software helping organizations to stay in control of Microsoft 365 and is trusted by more than 500 organizations worldwide.” Some of you may know Rencore through their SPCAF product (now called Rencore Code), which analyzes and assures SharePoint, teams, and O365 code quality against more than 1100 policies and checks, covering security, performance, maintainability, supportability, and other best practices. SPCAF is still available, but the company has shifted its focus entirely over to Rencore Governance, and is experiencing rapid growth. That is my primary focus — to build out the North American channel around our governance product.

Rencore GovernanceIt’s a space that I am quite familiar with. After joining Microsoft back in 2006, my first presentation at the internal-only Microsoft Ready event was a co-presentation with my peer Mike Watson on the topic of SharePoint Governance. When I left Microsoft and joined a small Seattle-based ISV focused on migration (echoTechnology) that was quickly acquired by a larger ISV (Axceler), my community session repertoire included multiple sessions on governance. You can find many posts on the topic on this blog and across the interwebs. In fact, for several years, there were only a handful of us talking about governance — trying to convince the community, and Microsoft, that it was a topic of critical importance. I think most people understand this today. The problem is that governance across the many admin consoles in Microsoft 365 is difficult, at best.

For channel partners or end-user customers, there is no other governance platform on the market that can better support and scale your Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Azure, Exchange, Yammer, and yes, even the Power Platform (which is an increasingly popular topic, and I expect to create a lot of content on it going forward). With Rencore Governance, you can utilize out-of-the-box policies and automations, edit and personalize them, or create them from scratch through an easy-to-use interface.

Don’t take my word for it: sign up for a free trial and leverage our demo data, or connect our cloud platform to your own domain and see for yourself.

And for partners across North America, I am especially interested in talking with you! Whether you’re a consulting team looking for a platform to help you better support your customer (and then train them to self-support), or an MSP wanting to leverage the platform to monitor and manage one or many customers, you need to take a look at Rencore! You can reach out to me directly, or through the web.
