Why does my company policy prevent me from joining a Teams call? #M365AMA

In this episode, the #M365AMA panel discusses the following community question:

“Any idea on the resolution for the following error in Teams? Is happening for random users in the tenant. Research nothing found helpful till now. Error message “Sorry, your company policy prevents you from joining this call” Note: The affected users can join the meeting previously without any errors. Same error in all versions like web and mobile. Thanks in advance.”

Some relevant notes/links shared by the team:

  • It could be an authentication issue, where people are clicking a meeting link without being properly logged in. Anonymous join could be set to “off” in meeting policies. I’d check there first.
  • Someone on Reddit speculated that the issue could be because the channel where the meeting was created is hidden to those users.
  • This really is a trial and error problem. Check out “Fix Microsoft Teams Can’t Join or Connect to a Meeting Issue” via Windows Dispatch for some ideas [https://www.windowsdispatch.com/fix-microsoft-teams-cant-join-meeting/]
