Can I convert disabled Exchange accounts to shared mailboxes? #M365AMA

In this episode, the #M365AMA panel discusses the following community question:

“We have 30 disabled accounts that still have E3 licenses as we usually keep the mailbox for 90 days … if i convert all these 30 disabled accounts mailboxes to shared mailboxes to spare on licenses cost .. this wont affect the data on these mailboxes .. am i right ? We are using exchange online.”
