Can I allow SharePoint users to edit but not delete a list? #M365AMA

“Is there any way of avoid users to delete items from a Sharepoint list, but still allow them to edit. I have tried to customize the permissions levels but I can’t find that specific split between delete and edit permissions?

Some relevant notes/links shared by the team:
- As Jonathan mentions, when you create a custom permission level (Site Permissions > Advanced > Permissions Levels > Add a Permissions Level), you can select “Edit Items”, but deselect “Delete Items”.
