Five Reasons to Follow Me on YouTube

For this Friday post, I thought I’d make a case for all of my readers to also subscribe to my YouTube channel, which I’m continuing to expand and grow with 3 to 4 new videos each week. If you’re a casual reader and not already a subscriber, here is some of what you are missing:

1. Weekly episodes of The CollabTalk Podcast

As state at the start of every new episode, the CollabTalk Podcast covers “the convergence of technology, business productivity, and collaboration culture.” It’s not all about Microsoft technology, though. Most of my guests are executives and senior leaders from a broad range of companies. Some of the more recent topics covered include titles such as “Demystifying Cybersecurity for the Modern Workplace,” “Building a NextGen DevOps Practice,” “Leveraging AI for Strategic Planning and Product Development,” and “Exploring the Impact of Motivation-Driven Design on User Engagement.” While I do try to apply the topic to collaboration and information management, the podcast affords me the opportunity to expand on a variety of topics and continue my learning journey.

2. Community questions answered in the #M365AMA series

Started during the pandemic as a way for a group of MVPs and friends to get together online and tackle technology questions from the community, our weekly #M365AMA livestream became a series of recordings divided into individual videos. These are actual questions posted to various online forums, and panels are convened as people are available, questions reviewed, and answers provided. Because we do not have the ability to ask follow-up questions, we often explore various scenarios that the community members may have experienced. Yes, we often utter the infamous phrase “It depends,”  and we occasionally fail to consider an additional possible solution, but we do our best to answer the question and provide a broader perspective on the problem. This series continues to be one of my favorite community activities.

3. Weekly episodes of the Project Failure Files livestream

One of my newest online activities, the Project Failure Files started as a book proposal. After pulling fellow MVP and RD Sharon Weaver into the project, we decided to expand our efforts beyond a simple (ha!) writing project, and launched a weekly livestream in which we share the anti-patterns of project management, providing guidance and examples of what NOT to do when managing projects. You can catch our live shows every Monday morning at 9am Pacific, or get notifications when the recordings become available (minutes after the show concludes). We also created a Facebook community where people can share their own PM horror stories…which might make it into a future episode!

4. Weekly interviews with MVPs in the #MVPbuzzChat series

Years ago, I wanted to find a way to expand my MVP network outside of the SharePoint community (no offense to all of my SharePoint peeps) and started the #MVPbuzzChat interview series as an extension of my CollabTalk Podcast. Published every Monday, these short (15-20 mins) interviews are a way for me and my listeners to get to know MVPs and RDs (and even some alumni MVPs) from around the world and across all disciplines. I love learning about their “origin stories” of becoming MVPs, about their technology passions, and the ways in which they contribute to the community. There are definite behavioral patterns amongst MVPs…which is great information for anyone interested in finding out more about the program and pursuing the award themselves. If you’re an MVP who has not yet participated in the series, please drop me a line! I’d love to interview you.

5. Monthly episodes of the Guardians of M365 Governance livestream

Governance has played a major part of my career for the past 15+ years, and so it only made sense to create a monthly livestream in which we could discuss the governance issues surrounding the Microsoft 365 platform. Launched in December 2023 with my good friend and fellow MVP Ragnar Heil, the Guardians of M365 Governance (#GoM365gov) recently added another friend and MVP, Joy Apple, as a permanent co-host, and monthly governance, compliance, and security experts from around the world. The livestream can be found on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and is sponsored by TekkiGurus. Upcoming guests include fellow MVP Richard Harbridge from 2toLead to share governance stories from the field, MVP+RD Sharon Weaver from Smarter-Consulting to discuss the M365 Maturity Model, and good friend Melinda Morales from Dyson to share some of her internal best practices.

Of course, there’s much more content beyond these 5 series/shows, with community-focused interviews, Microsoft 365 productivity tips, panel discussions, webinars, and more. If you’re interested in any of this, please be sure to Follow Me on YouTube and click the notifications bell to get alerts of new episodes!

Your comments and questions are always welcome, so please drop me a line and let me know what content you like – and topics you’d like me to cover. Thanks for watching!
