Refactoring the CollabTalk TweetJam
Kicking off 2025 with some changes to the CollabTalk TweetJam, which was launched back in January 2012 and until last year, had become a community institution. One of my favorite contributions to the community is to provide topics for discussion and a platform for anyone to participate. However, I’ve noticed a decline in engagement on social platforms since the pandemic. While there has definitely been a shift in social tool usage within the Microsoft ecosystem over the past 6 to 12 months largely due to political leanings, the decline in social media engagement was dropping prior to this election cycle and I think has more to do with online attention being more divided than ever. At the same time, engagement around video content has only grown with YouTube growing faster than any other site or platform.
Looking at these changes and wanting to continue to provide a platform for people to participate and share their opinions, experience, and best practices on important business and technology topics, I’m adjusting the way that I deliver these monthly tweetjams. I’m now promoting the event simultaneously through X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads, with the questions also shared (with visuals) on LinkedIn. This means that you can participate through any of these platforms, allowing people to share and discuss within the tool and community that you are most comfortable.
Additionally, the post-tweetjam panel will begin as soon as the tweetjam wraps up. For January 28th at 9am Pacific, our topic is “Shaping the Future of Productivity with Copilot” and, as always, is open for anyone and everyone to participate. Simply search for the #CollabTalk hashtag and follow the discussion, refreshing regularly to see new questions (there are always 7 questions) and respond to the comments from the community. And at 10am Pacific, the post-tweetjam panel will broadcast, with a selection of participants walking through the 7 questions and sharing their thoughts on the topic.
If you would like to participate in these tweetjams and receive notifications of future dates and topics, please fill out this form. Additionally, if you would like to be considered for a post-tweetjam panel discussion (live streamed) or would be interested in additional interviews, panels, videos, or events on the topics you are most passionate, please indicate on the form, as well.
I am looking forward to these changes and getting even more people involved in the CollabTalk TweetJams. As always, please feel free to share these links to anyone and everyone you think would be interested. The more the merrier!
