May 2025 Content Wrap-Up

May 2025 Content Wrap-UpWrapping up and incredibly busy month of content, travel, and community activities! I’ve been so heads down in client projects that I almost completely forgot about my adventures at the start of the month. With the M365 Community Conference taking place once again in Las Vegas and folks flying in from around the world, I once again through it out there to any friends in the community who wanted to fly into Salt Lake City and drive with me down to Vegas, the door was open. Fellow M365 MVP Chirag Patel and his wife flew into Salt Lake City, and we took a couple days to drive down to Vegas by way of a few Utah state and national parks, including the famous Delicate Arch and the lesser-known Goblin Valley State Park (featured in the classic film Galaxy Quest).

The M365 Community Conference is always an epic adventure. So many friends, so much community fun, and I was able to present one of my favorite sessions – my Top 20 M365 Productivity Tips session. I usually co-present with Tom Duff, who was at the conference but chose not to attend my session, so I kind of implied that Tom had died….or rather, that he was “dead to me” for not attending. It got a good laugh. While in Vegas, I did something that I always hate: I spent about half of the time in my room working. When the client billable hours call, you must answer.Just an unfortunate twist of fate that the project should begin the week of the conference, but I made the most of it.

The rest of the month was fairly intense, with long client hours doing Copilot training and adoption, as well as some project management and marketing duties. Here’s the content that I produced in May:

The CollabTalk Podcast

Some excellent interviews this past month, kicking off with GM of the ESPC event, Kevin Monahan, a summary of the M365 Conference announcements and SharePoint news with Geoff Varosky, and fascinating AI discussions with Darren Pulsipher (fellow co-founder of my first startup in the late 1990’s) and David Weiss. If you’re interested in discussions around the application of AI technology, not just theory, then you need to check out both episodes.

CollabTalk TweetJam

The topic for this past month’s CollabTalk TweetJam and post-tweetjam panel was “What It Really Takes To Become an AI-First Organization” and was sponsored by SWOOP Analytics. Joining the panel were Cai Kjaer from SWOOP, Kevin Zollinger from JourneyTEAM, and Sharon Weaver from Smarter Consulting.

May 2025 Content Wrap-UpProject Failure Files

Four more weeks of Project Failure Files episodes, and always a ton of fun with Sharon as we discuss all-things management. The titles can seem like real downers sometimes, but the episodes are actually fun and light (usually) as we approach management and leadership topics from the perspective of what NOT to do.

Content Strategy

My outline for the Content Strategy series is nearing its close, and the book outline is quickly shaping up. I think I may have actually come up with a title for the book, but I need to test it out before sharing. If you are a marketer or SMB leader looking for ideas on how to amplify your brand, this series is for you.

The weekly MVP interview series continues to roll forth.

Guardians of M365 Governance

Ragnar, Joy and I have a lot of fun with this series – and we now have the next 3 months of guests booked. If you would like to participate in this series and have a relevant governance topic in mind, please connect with one of us! For this past month, our guest was Matt Einig, CEO of Rencore.

Productivity Tips

I’m trying to get back into the productivity tips habit, and plan to post 2 or 3 each month….like the old days. Lots to share. I am planning to spin off and do a separate series around AI prompts, as well. Maybe that’ll develop further in June…

  • Productivity Tip: Converting PPT into Video [blog]

May 2025 Content Wrap-UpSmarter Consulting content

You’ll also see me posting regularly over on the Smarter Consulting blog, usually on AI, governance, and SharePoint topics.

Articles

More standalone topics. The two that got the most eyeballs this past month were my post on why I attend conferences, and my review of fellow MVP David McCarter’s article on how companies undervalue their veteran software engineers. Solid content, if you’re looking for something to read.

Blatant Self-Promotion

Just the one blatant self-promotion. I’m slacking again.

And that is it for the month of May. I’m continuing to be heads down on client projects, and, at the end of the month, will be packing up and moving to Dallas…after two sessions at TechCon 365 Seattle. Hope to see you there!
