1461 in 1461

Four years. One post a day. No gaps, no make-ups, no “I’ll catch it tomorrow.” Just the quiet discipline of showing up, writing something that mattered to me (and maybe to you), and hitting publish. Today marks 1,461 posts in 1,461 days.

This streak started with a simple dare. Back in 2021, I saw fellow MVP Tracy van der Schyff (@tracyvds) hitting her stride with daily blogging, and I wondered: could I do the same? Could I commit to sharing something every single day for a year? That first year was a test. Year two became a habit. Year three turned it into a rhythm. Now, at year four, it’s part of how I process the world.

1461 in 1461I didn’t set out to create a streak. I set out to practice writing, and develop good habits in content creation. Somewhere along the way, I stopped worrying about what was “worth posting” and leaned into what was worth thinking through. Sometimes that’s tech. Sometimes that’s business. Sometimes it’s the odd tangent or a strange metaphor. But every post has been a moment of clarity, a small bet on consistency over perfection.

Looking back, I’m less proud of any single post than I am of the fact that I didn’t skip. Not on the hard days. Not while traveling. Not when I had nothing “important” to say. Because showing up daily isn’t about the days when you’re inspired. It’s about the days when you’re not. That’s when the real work happens.

And yes, Tracy—I’m looking at you again. You lit the spark. You pushed this challenge into motion. I’m still hoping to see you jump back into the race. No competition, no scoreboard. That’s not what it’s about. Just the shared experience of committing to something creative and seeing where it takes you.

So what’s next? Another year. I don’t have a grand plan beyond that. This isn’t about turning the blog into a business or chasing numbers. It’s about continuing the practice. Writing daily helps me think sharper, learn faster, and stay grounded. It’s one of the few rituals that has paid off in every possible way. Most recently with the completion of my first science fiction novel.

To everyone who’s read, commented, shared, or just lurked quietly: thanks. I’m glad you’re here. I’ll be back tomorrow with post number 1462.

Let’s keep going.
