Completing 5 Years of Daily Blog Posts
1,829 consecutive days. 5 years. One post every day.
About seven years ago, Tracy van der Schyff (@tracyvds) nudged me down a rabbit hole. She had completed two full years of daily blogging and dared—er, encouraged—me to try it for one year. I had a couple false starts, but eventually created a plan and got things underway. When I hit day 365 back in August 2022, I wondered whether I could stretch it to two years.
Well, two turned into three, three turned into four, and today marks the official conclusion of my five-year goal: 1,829 consecutive days of publishing on buckleyPLANET.
Once again, Tracy: thank you for the push. It built a discipline I will never lose.
To be crystal clear, I am in no way slowing down on writing. I am simply shifting my focus. Maintaining a rigid daily calendar here served its purpose, but the time has come to redirect that creative bandwidth into larger initiatives that have been waiting in the wings.
Chief among those priorities is finishing and publishing three books:
- The AI Leadership Gap, which will hopefully be first off the press.
- Volume 1 of the Project Failure Files series with Sharon Weaver.
- My long-in-the-works Content Strategy book.
I will still be posting regularly right here on buckleyPLANET, but there will be gaps between posts, and I am completely fine with that. Reclaiming that time also allows me to restart publishing across other platforms and publications, extending the reach of my content beyond my own sandbox.
Beyond the books and syndication, I am exploring a return to academic-backed research, possibly securing funding for another deep-dive research project, potentially partnering once again with the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, or kicking off a new collaboration with the University of Texas at Dallas. If you have thoughts, angles, or interest in collaborating on that front, I am wide open to ideas.
Five years without missing a single day has been an incredible run, but the next chapter is going to be even bigger.
